About the Group
Who We Are
Emergency Lawyers is an independent, voluntary, professional human rights entity rooted in the historical legacy of Sudanese lawyers defending rights, freedoms, and the rule of law. Established in the context of the December Revolution and the subsequent arbitrary restrictions and widespread violations of public rights and freedoms, the group was formed to provide legal aid to victims, combat violations, and defend human dignity and the right to justice.
The group works to promote and protect human rights in Sudan, support accountability and justice mechanisms, contribute to redressing victims, compensating harm, and ending impunity. It also strives to spread a human rights culture and contribute to legal and institutional reform in accordance with international human rights standards.
Emergency Lawyers relies in its work on monitoring, documenting, and preserving evidence, providing legal aid and defending victims, issuing reports and studies, and submitting memorandums to national, regional, and international institutions.

Our Mission
Emergency Lawyers works to provide legal aid to victims of human rights violations in Sudan, monitor and document violations and preserve evidence, prepare legal reports, studies, and memorandums, support accountability and redress efforts, and network with civil society organizations and national, regional, and international human rights entities to enhance the protection of human rights and the rule of law.
Our History and Goals
Our work began in legal emergency rooms, where we faced grave challenges in reaching detainees and providing legal representation for them. Over time, our work evolved to include field documentation of violations affecting civilians in conflict areas, and the issuance of field reports that reflect the human rights reality in Sudan with complete impartiality and professionalism.
